Sounds like it was a great presentation David; I know that you can help with many technologies - which was the one that will help investigators like London House the most?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, as their work is very varied many of our services may be of use to them but the main one would be the stabilisation of video images as cameras are often concealed and not securely mounted. Also it is often not possible to re-capture the footage due to various factors not least cost, therefore it is very useful to be able to salvage the material by stabilising the footage to allow more detailed viewing and evidence gathering to take place.
DeleteFascinating blog. Didn't realise that the use of video was so widespread.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael, yes both hand held and fixed camera surveillance produces video (and sometimes audio) that can be used in intelligence gathering or investigations into civil and criminal matters. Unfortunately many people, including police officers and solicitors, do not understand how it can be used and what can be done to improve the audio and images once they have been captured. We are unlikely to be able to turn a poor quality recording into broadcast quality material but we might be able to enhance some detail which can support or refute some part of their case.
